New R-Firestop!

Released in 2025 the R-Firestop has been designed to compliment and enhance the R-Wall Formwork and take fire safety to a whole new level. ICF is well known for its fire resistance. The concrete core can resist fire for up to 4 hours and as such receives the highest possible fire ratings. There have been many occasions where ICF construction has proven this theory, the following articles discusses this in depth;

By Incorporating concrete floors to meet the concrete walls means fire spread can be prevented floor to floor and internally to externally. The only possible route the fire can take is through the insulation layer on the external aspect of the building. R-Walls insulated R-Boards contains fire retardant and achieves an E Fire rating. Whilst this means the insulation shouldn't contribute to the fire, it will burn or melt when subjected to intense heat and flames, and this is where the R-Firestop can be incorporated. Simply built into the R-Wall formwork where required R-Firestop can be used to compartmentalises or prevent fire spread. Therefore further enhancing R-Walls fire resistance. An example of this detail is shown below;

The R-Firestop can accommodate  various thicknesses to achieve differing performance standards

   • 75mm: 30 minutes Fire resistance
   • 100mm: 60 minutes Fire resistance
   • 125mm: 120 minutes Fire resistance

The R-Firestop just like the R-Rail can be combined with any R-Tie and any R-Board to create various thicknesses of Concrete and achievable U-Values.
